San Francisco based Ethiopian singer-songwriter Ezra Teshome's luminary rocker "Sleepwalker"

Ezra Teshome

Ezra Teshome is a San Francisco based Ethiopian singer - songwriter who just released his debut EP "Us Underwater" and the track Sleepwalker feels like a luminary rocker. It shifts a bit tonally like emotions suddenly erupting in ones mind while your mind is lost between a sea of hopes and hopelessness and while Teshome mines his Ethiopian culture and old folk and blues influences, Sleepwalker (to me), has a sort of 90's rock feel at it's core even though it is bathed with blues and jazz affectations. I do like Teshome's blend here, his aesthetic while rocking in a chill, yet proggy way has a kind of elegant nature. He calls his music quintessential sad and the vibe here, and throughout "Us Underwater", is bathed in a thinking man's malaise about world issues, race, culture wars and his place on this big blue marble.

To bring his songs to light, he had the help of a lot of talented artists. The album contributors are:  Ezra Teshome (Vocals, Guitar & Synths), Sean Thompson (Guitar), Robin Xavier (Bass Guitar), Quiver Watts (Violin), Kevin Figueroa (Drums & Percussion), Alex O’Connor (Back Up Vocals), Pooja Pallavi (Rapping Vocals), Tyler Hafer (Producer, Mixing & Recording Engineer), Cody Hamilton (Recording Engineer) and  Alex Miller (Assistant Recording Engineer).
