Denmark's The Great Dictators cluster of proto punk and synth pop with barbiturate drip vox on "Killing Fields"

"

Denmark's The Great Dictators never cease to amaze me. On their latest AP offering "Killing Fields" they have created a truly evocative sort of proto punk meets synth pop escapist fare. The beat driven track which feels like a kind of cluster of The Psychedelic Furs, Kraftwerk and the Magnetic Fields has barbiturate drip vox and mirrored melodic synths. The beat is deliciously electronic like an old drum machine a tweaked up Casio and lead vocalist Dragut Lagalzagosi chews on every word and croons the contents out in a lush doped way. I love it. The video, well, fits the song in some odd way and is a hell of a lot more unsettling than Ari Asters "Midsommar".

The Great Dictators new album "One Eye Opener" drops on April 17th via Celebration Records.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

New music video by The Great Dictators
“We’ve just entered The Roaring Twenties 2.0 so we thought it was appropriate to put together old footage from the past and Western culture.” - Auto Slug Lizard Gag, director
'Killing Fields' is electronic indie rock and psychedelic pop. A few inspirations include Leonard Cohen, The Psychedelic Furs and Kraftwerk. There’s a melancholic yet uplifting vibe to it - also when lead singer Dragut Lugalzagosi croons his lungs out: “In between your gutted dreams, turn to me.”
The Great Dictators will release their new album ‘One Eye Opener’ April 17th via Celebration Records.
