Locate S,1's post punk / disco punk bleeds with truth and consequences on "Personalia" (Official Video)

"

Personalia is the first single from Locate S,1's sophomore album of the same name (due out April 3) and if it portends what the rest of the album is like... (wicked smile). Locate S,1 is the moniker / brainchild of Christina Schneider who was signed to Captured Tracks after her 2019 tour with Frankie Cosmos. Music, art itself is a bloody hard business and discipline. If you are true to your art, you bleed it and you (and you alone) are usually the one that has to deal with the cuts and the bandaging.

"Named after a poem by Mary Ruefle, “Personalia,” is a retelling of an emotional night in 2018 when she nearly quit."

Personalia begins blistering with percussive sounds and spartan guitar as Schneider sings, "almost killed myself so I went home.. I just cannot take these local shows... TomT.Hall said don't let your music kill you... but I'm no country boy... I'm just some punk" and there are many lines about the grind, the doubt, and no one getting the fuck what you are doing up on that stage ("Curse another crowd that doesn’t get it"). But there is hope too when the music goes from spartan to an almost disco punk feel,

"plug in tonight when I get to my room
Pretend I’m someone that I could believe in I’ve shorted out but if I play long enough I'll become the person that I wanna be again I never wanted just to get through the night"

But hope is a fickle bastard. In the end, you gotta be the only one in the room who has to get it to make you happy - yeah, easier said than fucking done and if you've never thought about quitting something you love than you aren't loving it enough and working hard enough at it.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

After finishing up a 2019 tour with Frankie Cosmos and signing to Captured Tracks, Christina Schneider's, the brainchild behind Locate S,1, is ready to release her beautiful sophomore album Personalia (out April 3). This is the first single off the record.
Named after a poem by Mary Ruefle, “Personalia,” is a retelling of an emotional night in 2018 when she nearly quit. “Almost killed myself so I went home / I just cannot take these local shows,” she sings over a gloomy, despondent bassline. But in-between this melancholy Christina suddenly finds her spark. “Plug in tonight when I get to my room / pretend I’m someone that I could believe in,” she sings during the songs fizzy, euphoric chorus. “I’ve shorted out but if I play long enough I'll become the person that I wanna be again,” she cries, echoing some of Blondie’s most triumphant moments.
The album aims to understand and expel a darkness that has come over her (and society at large) in order to live a more fulfilling life. Produced by Kevin Barnes (of Montreal) this album is pushing the outer limits of pop music. She will also be on tour with of Montreal in March.
