LUVK's hip hop manifesto "Chopped" has a punk heart

The vibratone synths squeezing out only two chords back and forth on the raw Chopped made me think of the urban busker punk feel of Lou Reed but LUVK is not pouring out chill words but dishing out self empowering acidity "... how you gonna cheat on me with KiKi??" and from the sound of it you do not want to cross LUVK. A combination of brazen badassery, hip hop, rap, trap, electro pop with a punk heart, this is something differently drawn up.

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

There's more to LUVK (pronounced "luck") than merely good fortune. Having spent most of her life honing her artistry, the multi-faceted singer is now on the cusp of a major breakthrough.

With a fusion of Hip Hop and Rock & Roll, the culture has been elevated in a new unorthodox way. LUVK does not conform, genres do not exist; she embraces and embodies the beauty of the human race. This mentality has also brought forth her brand FOP; “For Our People, For Other People” that is an extension of LUVK, promoting love, individualism and provokes thought behind the concept of purpose and self-validation.

Born on the East Coast to parents she dubs "dreamers," LUVK spent her childhood years immersed in music. She was classically trained in opera, while her parents enforced the fundamental skills of performing. At just sixteen, a writer of BET’s 106 & Park discovered LUVK during a performance at the Sugar Bar in NYC. This discovery lead to her being featured prominently in live segments of 106 & Park. The show brought exposure, but it also provided a sobering reality check on the nature of the business. Understanding that performing could no longer be a hobby, she parted ways in order to pursue her artistry full-time. LUVK hustled up other performing gigs to cover bills and recorded her E.P., Human, released in 2016.

Human was well-received independently, embraced by young cultural leaders in New York and made enough noise to lead LUVK to Los Angeles. From her E.P. sprung "Try My Wave," a rousing hybrid of R&B, Trap, and Rock. LUVK identifies the track as her turning point - the moment when her diverse skills and inspirations clicked. LUVK has created an undeniable sound of her own. If Post Malone, No Doubt, and Travis Scott made a baby, you would be living in the world of LUVK. LUVK is now firmly in control of her own path, with her forthcoming debut album "It Wasn't Luck” you are beginning to see the world she has created. Be on the lookout of what’s coming next as she is poised and ready to take her career to the next level. Good fortune may have played a part in her journey, but talent, charisma, and persistence have defined it. Virginia has birthed some of the greatest artists of all time, and here comes another one.
