Phantogram's broken, tender, shiny, dirty "Pedestal" doesn't disappoint

"I'm not afraid of the scars"

Phantogram is an American alt rock duo from Greenwich, New York who possess such a catchy sound and the thing is, their sound with elements (or illusions to) of electro pop, 80's new wave, 90's post rock, electronica, post punk, hip hop, indie rock and anti-pop tones casts an obvious wide net. I personally don't know anyone who does not like their sound even though they might individually be miles apart in their musical taste. A lot of that has to do with the evocative vocal aesthetic of Sarah Barthel and the rock forward angles of Josh Carter with out sounding to clean, to produced and to pop even though it might feel like their sound is filtered through a pop-esque motif in some way. Their latest, Pedestal, doesn't disappoint either, Sarah's tender and broken vox, industrial dirtied up synths and blown out production, quiet and loud dynamics and slick art pop affectations sound alluring and cool.
