Sugarloaf Beach surfs into waves of funk psychedelia in the every chilling, vibey "Going Nowhere"

"discotheque and tropicália"

Sugarloaf Beach is the musical project / moniker of one Brazilian singer-songwriter based out of Melbourne, Australia and when I first heard Going Nowhere with it's funky, jammy beat I actually flashed on Deee Lite's 2006 mega hit Groove Is In The Heart but only for a moment. Deee Lite veers into rabid funk pop disco territory but Sugarloaf fuses vintage 60's pop rock tones (there is a hint of Beatle-essence in the progs and guitar bends) with bossa nova swings and bathes it all in a tropicália meets psyche rock sheen. The vox are chill and a bit stoner, trippingly done up with a dip of hippie-ness. It is more funky vibe than disco by a long shot and I dig it.
