The Strokes' "Bad Decisions" is a croon laden non love song to vintage sounds from their upcoming "The New Abnormal" (Official Video)

"the strokes are back"

The Strokes are back is what everyone is exclaiming. I didn't think they ever left really but their recent release of the Bad Decisions (Official Video) is a clear indication that YES, they are back. It will be on their upcoming album "The New Abnormal" due to drop April 10th (2020). From the onset, the track feels more like vintage Strokes and with a guitar hook very reminiscent of Modern English's I Melt With You from their 1982 "After the Snow" album, very retro 80's affectations, tom tom beats intact, spartan production, references to 1972 and the Strokes co-opting their own signature tone on the chorus, it is cool and fun. Julian Casablancas' vox is maybe more croony, although, still mixed right up on the mic. In the end, this track feels at once comfortable and sweet like an old lover snuck in the bedroom window but is this song a love letter to a vintage sound or a mild lampoon of it? Either way, I dig it.

The Official Video is retro chic, funny and pretty awesome.
