Tallmoe strives to win at games of the heart- with the jagged indie rock post punk of "Autocomplete To Win"
"I have a headache and you're a mess"
Jasper Fielding writes some cutting prose with the deft hand of a surgeon even though, on the track Autocomplete To Win. he flatly states that "he can't be a surgeon" because he is easily distracted. Fielding does excel as a songwriter, writing smart sardonic prose on this song whose title comes from a solitaire computer game that upon succeeding, the player gets prompted “Autocomplete to win?”
He is in the center of a five piece indie rock band from Karlstad, Sweden called Tallmoe although when I first heard them I thought of the kind of music coming out of (let's say) Athens, Georgia (USA) in the fertile 90's. The new wave and indie rock of bands like R.E.M (GA) or Miracle Legion (actually out of New Haven, Connecticut). I like the proto punk aesthetic that Tallmoe brings to this song as well as the post punk jangly but still heavy guitars. Aw, and yes those drawl cut to the quick vocals. Cool.
"A song about apathy and boredom in a relationship, not even being able to break up. Maybe it applies to more relationships than we think?" - Tallmoe
-Robb Donker Curtius
THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
With one foot steadily anchored in the alternative pop and rock music of the 80’s and 90’s, and the other one stumbling, searching for new ground, Tallmoe is a five-piece act from Karlstad, Sweden. Founded by lead singer and songwriter Jesper Fielding in 2017, they released their debut single “Around” in early 2020 after playing a few gigs.
