Johnny Petunia embraces with endearing indie pop Mersey Beat sways on "MC" from the "Never Be Apart" album

"all it was ... was myself"

Johnny Petunia is a singer/songwriter based in Philadelphia, PA. He specializes in power-pop song-craft and loves old synthesizers.

No that is not Johnny's descriptor on Tinder (although it kind of sounds like one of those) but, instead, just "getting to the point" bio wise. I love the track MC from his new album "Never Be Apart" because it gets to the point as well. From the onset it is (at once) a celebratory piece of indie pop with power pop bones starting with sprite acoustic lines that made me think a little of The Cure (Friday, I'm In Love) but MC with it's Mersey Beat has tinges of Brit Pop sways and Petunia's vocals are so endearing (as are his self harmonies) and sort of "Fool On The Hill" synth sounds. The man is a great singer with a voice that is both comfortable and indie rock strong. MC, the entire pop affair is saucy and lush and just so fucking lovely.
