Space Queen and the fuzzy psychedelia of "Why Can't I Move" (turn it up)

"we've been through the evergreens"

Why Can't I Move from Canadian based Space Queen (and from their debut Self Titled EP) not only churns along on surfy punk tom tom drumming but thick fuzzy guitars and lush, lush vocal harmonies. Against all the dirty fuzz psychedelia, it is (for me) the pristine vocal aesthetic that engages you and sucks you in to the punk / pop heaviness. The half time musical break with awesome lead guitar notes in tandem or played with a harmonizer floating on a thick, heavy organ drone feels like a chocolate cake of goodness. Damn. Yum.

Space Queen is Karli Rose MacIntosh (drums), Jenna Earle (guitar) and Seah Maister (bass/organ/keys).

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:
Space Queen came together as the natural evolution of the trio's original project, Sound of the Sun. Space Queen retained the haunting 3 part harmonies of SOTS, but layered over a psychedelic rock canvas. SOTS found the girls singing backups on a Jean Michel Byron (former lead singer of Toto) album, playing the world renowned Kaslo Jazz festival, and multiple slots at the California Avocado Festival! They are excited to build upon that momentum as Space Queen.

Space Queen combines fuzzy 70's metal riffs with elements of alternative rock and the blues. This power trio is anchored by Karli Rose MacIntosh on the drums, providing a driving beat to the distorted heavy riffs and solos of Jenna Earle on electric guitar and Seah Maister on bass/organ/keys.
