Axel Flóvent and the measured beautiful admonishments of "Tonight" (Official Video)

Icelandic singer songwriter Axel Flóvent has the ability to make you feel his emotional narratives maybe by allowing us, in some way, to feel our own. His beautiful, yet in some ways, unassuming voice slips around you in a comfortable way like a deep hug when you are ailing and needing one. I had the chance to meet him, speak with him a few months back while he was on tour and he is one hell of a nice guy too. His latest work, Tonight, from his upcoming debut album, with guitar sustains hanging in mid-air as he strums acoustically carries beautiful reflections as piano, bass, and drums fill up the spaces. Flóvent's voice, seemingly forever forlorn spouting lovely poetry of something missing or something lost or of something found:

"You’ve caught the silence
And made your peace with it
Tonight, you’ll be there
forever more"

Of the song, Flóvent offers:

“I wrote the first ideas for ‘Tonight’ back in 2015, it has followed me since then as the first steps of the story I’m telling with my upcoming record. I wrote it as the prelude/introduction into the record and it evolved into being one of my favorite songs on the record. It’s a song about finding stability in a place or a moment or a person. It’s about finding stability in something that has been there all along and you’re learning to appreciate it.”

The Official Video, informed by the natural beauty of Reykjavik and Flóvent's gentle nature was shot near his apartment directed  by Clara Schicketanz, who shot it as well and provide the graphic design.

“I guess the video plot is a bit the ‘leaving space for the imagination’ kind of approach and finding comfort in this place; laying down on the grass just listening to the waves feel the mind drift off,” says Flóvent.
