La Vie Sauvage and the two act dystopian drawn vision of "Melanchomania" featuring Emily Black

"you can search for awhile but I know where to hide"

La Vie Sauvage, aka Miel Goebel, fuses french electro, synthwave, hip-hop and trap and build his own sonic universes. His latest Melanchomaniafeaturing vocals by long time friend and collaborator Emily Black, with it's dirty synth tones that feel scratched and torn, dark bass manifestations and Black's haunting vocal aesthetic makes you cower and smile widely at the same time. This two act dystopian drawn vision is an interesting one because within the caustic sound there are pretty things happening as well. Keyboard lines that ascend and others that mirror Black's melodies.

Of the track Goebel shares:

"My new single 'Melanchomania', in contrast to previous instrumental work, shows a more vulnerable side exploring themes such as mental illness and escapism, featuring vocals by long time friend and collaborator Emily Black. We were both in a dark place when we met and went on a dopamine binge for a while to supress the things we had to deal with in our lives, indirectly inspiring us to write this song 1 year later."

Close your eyes, listen (preferably) with closed cup headphones and escape. You may see images that you are imagining or not.

Miel Goebel and Emily Black hail from the Netherlands.

La Vie Sauvage, also known to some by his real name Miel Goebel, fuses french electro, synthwave, hip-hop and trap into a hyped-up, adrenaline-fused mix. Determined not to be pigeonholed, he has set out to create his own visionary brand.

Starting out playing the drums at age nine, he got a feeling for rhythm from an early age. He played for a few years after which he got to know about electronic music production and soon his first (electro) house songs followed. Going by the name Emilio G he released on the Housepital label and had a featuring on the Vato Gonzalez Mixtape. He also DJ’ed frequently, starting in local bars around Utrecht, moving up to Maassilo and Thalia in Rotterdam.

In 2014 he enrolled in a preparatory course at the dutch art college Artez. He was ultimately not accepted into the full course, but during the time spent with classmates he acquired an entirely new view on music, philosophy and culture. His taste shifted from club beats to alternative metal and surf-rock influenced breakbeat tracks with a sharp edge. By the end of 2018 he finished his debut album as Exo Moda, which will be released in cooperation with the famous dutch Wisseloord studios.

With this project, however, he returns to his club sound, yet with the outsider image and spirit that he has started to embody. You could feel like you are living inside a video game listening to ‘Carpe Noctem’ and ‘8 Bit Ultra Violence’, channel your inner anarchist and rule breaker playing ‘Antichrist Electrostar’, or live out your hedonistic fantasies with ‘Arp #69’. This is where the name also comes from, living ‘La Vie Sauvage’.
