Gibson & Bronzini in the somberly lit "Apples" reflect on the orchards we all live in right now

"There’s a whole orchard that needs cutting down"

On the somber, emotionally penetrating Apples by Gibson & Bronzini the poetry is not so obtuse but instead perfectly clear during these tumultuous times, times of either revolution or evolution or, maybe a little of both. Amid tactile guitar picking, beautiful bass lines and moving Wurlitzer piano, Aaron Gibson spills potent words in gentle but sad leaning ways.

"Now we’re together with friends
But where will we go if the onslaught doesn’t end
The pigs have thrown away what brand of decency they had
But this is your home
These are your trees
But all of the apples are bad"

As I listen to what sounds like a fable it occurs to me that fables do have evil doers but oftentimes in such fables we are all complicit in promulgating that evil in some ways. Maybe in this fable not all the bad apples are the pigs. I listen further.
"And there’s a whole orchard that needs cutting down
So there’s still work ahead
let the sound of axes go
And ring across the land"

Aaron Gibson (bass, vox) and Nahuel Bronzini inject hope and light into Apples too. They dedicate the track to loved ones and close with a special hashtag:

"For Hannah. For Corey. I am so sorry that people are so shitty to each other. I desperately wish it were not so. Perhaps we can change that. #BlackLivesMatter"

We live in such interesting time fraught with so much uncertainty and during those times throughout history, art informs, shines bits of light and inspire.
