Double Whammy and the jammy post punk celebration of "Coming Down"

"I told you I hate the sound of the thunder coming down"

Hearing the recent single “Coming Down” by Double Whammy was like going back in time to a Cleaners From Venus and Orange Juice show, and experiencing an opening band that actually hooks you in. Just the right mixture of catchy and jangly, the urgency of the track conveys the nervous emotion of the resurfacing of feelings for past love. These Florida boys are Andrew Waterstripe on vocals and guitar, Jose Pitalla on bass and guitar and Max Williamson on drums. Their vigor for music is at the caliber of the beginnings of The Replacements; young folks who love music and create it DIY and homegrown. Since their formation 2 years ago they’ve released an EP "Howdy Hope You’re Well", produced in Waterstripe’s room, and have a full length in the works. We love this new track and we’re stoked for Double Whammy and the future. Look out for their album Dream on Delay and please enjoy listening to “Coming Down.”

THE FACTS AS WE KNOW THEM - PRESS NOTES:

Double whammy was formed in October of 2018 by two dudes named Andrew Waterstripe and Jose Pitalla from a small town in east Florida called Sebastian.

From the boys:

When I (Andrew) asked Jose to start an indie band after one jam session. Jose came up with the name because there was two of us and the whammy part was a reference to an Instagram name based on a line Adrock from the beastie boys sings. After jamming for a few months and releasing our debut EP “Howdy hope you’re well” where it was produced by Andrew Waterstripe in his bedroom and written by Andrew and Jose. Later on our longtime friend Maxwell Williamson joined us on the drums and we became a trio with Andrew on vocals and guitar, Jose on guitar or sometimes bass, and max on drums. Currently working on a full length album “Dream on Delay” the song “Coming Down” was the first single to be released from it. “Coming down” is about a lover from the past coming back into your life and making you feel things that you hadn’t felt since they were there in the first place.
