Tesso and the inter-dimensional techno hard and soft core of the "Bottomless Hole" EP

"Gagaku turned inside out"

It is not often that I steep myself in soundscapes (sans vocals), or instrumentals in general. Maybe it is because I find lyrics so interesting and even the mere melodious sound of the human voice as in instrument so appealing. Lately though, as I have been experimenting with some further fiction writing (especially short form) soundscapes / instrumentals feels like a clean secret drug I can ingest to inspire and open up hidden doorways in my creative brain.

Tesso is an electronic artist out of Kentucky and his latest EP "Bottomless Hole" is full of such sonic drugs. Tracks like "Refractory" feels at first like caustic keyed loneliness until the machine beats and futuristic catches feel like a dormant robot awakening. "Hag In The Hole" feels more future hardcore, like an industrial punk club were words are not allowed. "Bottomless" with it's fuzzy button pushing that turns melodic feels like a spy caper within it interplanetary visions. "Panacea" has a glacial tone, a softness but still nurtures, conjures up skin tight plastic body suits and inter-dimensional travel.

The first track, "Howling Moon" might feel the most like performance art mixing Lynchian dystopic weirdness with a plodding military march / industrial punk sense filtered through Japanese Gagaku turned inside out. My mind wanders easily as I listen.
