D.C.’s The Hips have just released “Malus,” the 2nd track off of their debut album “O.” With raw production and pressing sound, “Malus” hammers into the head quite furiously. The album is themed to the plot of Inferno, likening the fiery sound to the wrathful idea of the circle of hell. The Hips are a drum and guitar duo with an intrepid ability to play voluminously and fast, pouring out energy and righteous sound. Having been in a drum & guitar duo with a similar urgency, I understand the passion it takes to create such a thing and commend the pair for what they’re doing. “O” is out now so play it loud and release some cathartic frustration for the wild times we’re all in.
