JSRF* and the psyche trip contained madness of "Power of A Thousand Cowboys"

"and when I say next day gone..."

The elusive JSRF* have recently released “Power of A Thousand Cowboys” the first track off of their self titled album; a psych trip driven contained madness that is possessing and visceral. The project itself holds mystery, deeming itself krautrock from an undisclosed location in the US. JSRF* churn raw self-recorded and produced live improvisations that capture enthralling moments for your listening pleasure. The track gears you up for the album which is an experience of free form and organic sound curated to transport you to a brash, sparsely lit room with the enigmatic people playing the music. The vocals made me think of David Yow (Scratch Acid, Jesus Lizard), chaotically captivating and widely expressive, while much of the instrumentation has the an early psych punk sensibility of the experimental counterculture. The anonymity of the group add to the fervent experience of hearing the artfully created sound, and the primitivism of listening without social media or sociocultural influence. It’s music heard and felt the way it should be. Like that unknown 7” you found, put forth by artists who didn’t give a shit if you knew who they were.
