Pivnoy Cowboy and the dark night post punk Goth pop mystery of "Дымка"

"Предрассветная дымка окутала двор"

There is a multitude of reasons that music engages you, stirs the creative juices, sparks those synapses in your brain signaling the pleasure centers. It could be the blistering bass / drum rhythms of Moscow based Pivnoy Cowboy, the entrancing post punk guitar tonality with the goth punk affections on the mysterious sounding "дымка" (which means an early morning haze after a rainy night), or the 80's skewed synths or multi-instrumentalist Vet's (Vitalii Zimin) sort of aloof yet commanding vocal aesthetic. It is all that but the fact that I don't speak / understand the Russian language makes it all the more interesting. That foreign film edge (with the subtitles turned off) pushes the track in even more cinematic ways, adds another layer of mystery on top of the hard and soft music narrative. When words become another instrument, when the linguistic syntax is not only lost in translation but undecipherable, the song can be about anything you imagine.

"дымка" is from Pivnoy Cowboys recently released "Impossibilism" Album.
