"I miss my darker side bathed in black smoke"
There is some dark poetry amid the thick slow dance sway of Cedar & Boyer's beautiful elliptical "Telephone Beautiful". Cedar & Boyer is a songwriting artistic collaborative between Justin and Jen Landis. This song is my first introduction to this pair even though Justin Landis has been gracing the world, writing, recording and performing music for more than 2 decades. Yes, I do venture under rocks and not get out as much as I should. But I will not live in regret, after swaying my early morning cup of hot coffee to this amazing track with it's melodic semi-hollow body (sounding) guitar line, waltzee cadence, emotionally drenched vox and lovely (and broken) lyrics I am pretty smitten and will look back. I love looking back.
Of this special song, Justin shares:
"Telephone Beautiful was written in the wake of a tour we did in 2012, processing some of the interpersonal dynamics that emerged. Some relationships were strengthened; some dissolved. I wrote it in an attempt to understand the perspective of the aggrieved party.
This tour is still one of my fondest memories despite the relational fallout."

Cedar & Boyer is a collaboration between Justin and Jen Landis. With roots in the singer-songwriter tradition, their sound is a shifting combination of instruments and arrangements. Their songs are melodically earnest and serve as the anchor for their exploration.
Justin Landis has been writing, recording and performing music for more than 2 decades. His approach to music is inventive and capricious. Instrumentation and melody are similarly mercurial.
