"I, I'll be a flash of light for your weathered mind"
Simply put, "Please Hold On" by Max and the Martians, the project of New Orleans-based singer-songwriter, musician, Max Bien Kahn, is dripping with cool. Not only that but the sultry country / garden rock sway and embracing tender vox feels cross generational. It is like part Ricky Nelson (60's) and part Kevin Morby. It rides indie rock highways and country roads.

Max and the Martians is the songwriting project of New Orleans-based musician, Max Bien Kahn. Here, danceable, feel-good, country-garage meets writing with personality. Bien Kahn strikes a rare balance between light-hearted and affecting, capable of being equal parts moody and funny. His sensibilities seamlessly blend '60s rock ‘n' roll-influenced sounds with strong pop melodies, tied together with the frank, bittersweet wit and wisdom of country storytelling.
All the Same, the new album from Max and The Martians, is preparing to land on March 12, 2021. The album will be available everywhere digitally, as well as on vinyl and cassette from Perpetual Doom. All The Same brings together all-star talent from across the Big Easy to sharpen the Martians' wounded country sound into resolute, danceable rock and roll. These tracks confront heartbreak, grief, and that creeping sense of unease at summer’s end. Prepare to do the space shuffle.
Prior to All the Same, Max and the Martians released the 7" Please Hold On (Mashed Potato Records, 2019), the Curtains EP (2019), and the debut LP Max and the Martians (2016). Max Bien Kahn recently completed a new LP produced by Duff Thompson (of Mashed Potato Records), and is currently working on another album with producer Ross Farbe (of Video Age).
Alongside fronting Max and the Martians, Bien Kahn has spent nearly a decade working as a gigging musician in New Orleans in countless projects. Currently, he is a member of traditional jazz band, Tuba Skinny, as well as Esther Rose's band, and is a frequent session musician at Mashed Potato Studio.
