Sashathem tugs at your shirt collar on "Glass House"

"don't get too close..."

I have no preconceived notions that I am qualified in any way to speak knowledgably about conscious hip hop or the very engaging blend of R&B indie, hip hop, experimental electro pop or lounge that I hear when I listen to Boston based multi-instrumentalist, artist producer Sashathem. I am, afterall, someone who steeps himself mostly in the broad genres of pop, punk, post punk, proto punk and all of those in usually their most raw or experimental form. Maybe a mere 10 percent of my engagement is like that of Sashathem but there are elements here that tug at me. The vibe, soulful on top of trap affections, the pearly keys and the snaking bass that wraps around their rap flow that is able to seep into my psyche. I also love the funky push of the sung chorus / refrain and the darkness with the cloned pitch shifted demon.

Debut album, "Glass House", out now.

Cool.
