Hear In Color stir up indie rock soul pop love on "Tell Me" (Something New)

"something more than just I love you"

I don't know much about the Bay area's Hear In Color except that their track "Tell Me" (Something New), from their recently released 2021 EP "Last Thoughts", leaves a dreamy impression. The running guitar lines, pearly Fender Rhodes-esque keys, bending lead lines awash in perfect waves of reverb while the shifting drums feel more raw carry indie post punk chill tones with pop and touches or R&B. Throw Faith Donithan's vocal aesthetic that cajoles with an earthy character that in many ways carries the weight of soulful 70's pop sounds and you have a dreamy crush of a song. I hope this track pulls you into the EP, it too has a vast sound overall, with retro garden rock tones- "If I Try" is so incredibly telling of this young bands intent, their exquisite maturity or maybe they are old musical souls at heart. "Never Ends" pushes relationship buttons or is a metaphor for society as a whole. "Organ Song" will surprise you, blending soul, lounge, with big R&B indie slow dance trappings and made me think about cruising down Whittier Blvd. Sweet.

Hear In Color are Faith Donithan (lead vox), Gerardo González (keys, guitar, backing vox), Isaiah Selva (guitar, keys, backing vox), Elias Lozano (bass, production) and Valente McNamer (drums).
