Drongo and beautiful colliding hybridization of "Slange"

"Slange" loosely translated in Norwegian means snake and Drongo, an 8 piece swirling blendo rock band (a term I use when describing a band is virtually useless but listening to them is everything) is also the name of a bird that imitates and manipulates other animals to get what it wants, hmmm? The band recently released their debut album "1" (on April 16th, 2021) with each song inspired by animals. All the songs written and self produced by the band, recorded by Nikolai Vikene LIVE in a small apartment, (yes live, that needs to be stressede), mixed by Hans Uhre, mastered by Karl Klaseis with beautiful animal paintings done by Frode Holgersen.

"Slange" is a masterful, swirling, diversionay soundscape of post rock, meets post punk, hybrid-esque with jazztronic affections, heavy collisions of sound and surprising fall-aways. It is dreamy and sometimes nightmarish. It one way, it feels like the Doors on more acid, in other ways it feels like an amalgam of artists like Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Charles Mingus, Death From Above 1979, The Doors, The Oh Sees, Boards Of Canada and Porches (seriously). You might be able to add more bands.

As an indie music writer for over 11 years (nearly every day) I do come across artists, songs that (respectfully) make me want to fucking pierce my eardrums out with pencils. Drongo is the utter, complete opposite of that. They take you on surprising journeys, ones that feel less traveled.

Drongo is Auver Gaaren, Eirik Ask, Øystein Heide Aadland, Tov Espelid, Nicolai Gill Johannesen, Håkon Sakseide, Kristoffer Tokle, Hans Uhre.
