"at a church on a whim on a happy Sunday"
The pair just released their 6th single called "Happy Sunday" featuring a fellow Hull based vocalist and musician Damien de La Bergerette on lead vox and harmonica. The track, from the onset, with it's soft squashed machine beats and perfectly poised electro post punk / goth pop bathed synth bass lines and sparkly chord progs that stair step, then move sideways, form an elegant stage for Damien's vocal aesthetic. His vox with what feels like a British lilt and art pop theatrical sustains brought to mind a slight patina of Bernard Sumner and Dave Gahan crashed together. Really digging Damien's aesthetic within such a well constructed written song. Menthüll poetic narrative, lush beautiful supporting vox and the overall sort of glacial sadness here is brilliant. The creative duo also used the talents of King Konsole, formerly from Hull, who also got involved within the mix of sounds. All the collaborations were, for the most part, done from afar, each contributing remotely during the winter. Amazing, amazing track.
