CAMP STAG and the tumultuous journey to new beginnings "On The Ropes"

"there's no one else around so I go out alone"

CAMP STAG's upcoming album "Tremolo" their debut via their very own label Northern Dream was a long time coming. It took the band six years to craft their own love story to the city that gave birth to them, Stoke-on-Trent and as press notes describe "like the streets of that city, the album is equal parts desolation, love, anger, and hope. The crumbling nightclubs, the fractured politics, the changing light from night to day." The albums closer is the dramatic dionysian "On The Ropes" and the song with sad descending guitar lines, brooding musical admissions within the pearly yet discordant keys, passionate vox spouting laments of pain, damnation and forgiveness, blaring horns, big bass and drums swings, and a cacophonic coda might just be a sonic reflection of the band's tumultuous journey to the new album (and label).

[There have been break-ups and breakdowns; new life and the deaths of friends; lost songs and found sounds. And there's been the breakdown of society to deal with.]

The band has become a collective, a family with familial bruises and familial love comprised of Emily Andrews, Rich Chevin-Dooley, Ade Harrison, Tomos Hughes, Daniel Nixon, Alex Shenton, and Chris Wilson.

CAMP STAG are a 7-piece alternative rock band, formed in 2011 in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Their debut single 'Sirens', which they self-released on 16 April 2012, received national airplay courtesy of BBC Introducing on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, and XFM, as well as featuring on BBC TV's Newsround. As a result, the band were one of two acts based in Stoke-on-Trent to be invited to perform on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday 28 June 2013.

They released an EP entitled 'When The Lights Come Down' on 21 October 2012, and a second single, 'Walking With Broken Bones' on 27 May 2013. During the summer of 2013, they appeared at Glastonbury Festival, Sheffield Tramlines Festival, Kendal Calling, and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

The band released their second EP 'Leviathan' on 26 September 2014, and lead track 'Paper Houses' was chosen by Simon Raymonde as his "Track of the Week" on his Amazing Radio show.

Their debut album, 'Tremolo', was due for release in 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will instead be released in 2021.
