PREMIERE: Distance Dealer and the synthwave gothic punk alien pained "Body/Frame"

"California here we come again..."

As dramatic as "Body/ Frame" by Distance Dealer is, it is the brilliant nuances that are blowing me away. From this collaborative outfit's debut album entitled "Mind Dawns" (due to drop June 2021 on Blackjack Illuminist Records based in Königs Wusterhausen, Germany), Distance Dealer are Thiago Desant (from Phantoms vs Fire) and Alexander Donat (from Vlimmer) working remotely, sending files from Brazil to Germany and vice versa with stunning results. From the onset, "Body/Frame", pushes nostalgic art punk / post punk /goth pop buttons in my brain. The high pitched synth lines creating an enveloping intertwining dinge of ghostly sounds rides on a brilliant machine beat. I spoke of a nuanced approach and the decision to use the kick sparingly instead of a constant thump is just one of the artistic decisions that elevate this track. The vocal aesthetic massaging the lines in an almost pained alien sort of way feel (to me) like an amalgam of Robert Smith (the Cure), Erick Adrien (Opéra De Nuit), Gary Numan and Daniel Miller (The Normal). There is a wonderful moment that cuts through the dense darkwaves when more percussion invades the sound and surprising half step dissonance slaps you in the face, "California here we come, California here we come... again".

"Body/Frame" deals with trouble and fights that people sometimes have, but as we're not the body that makes us who we are but the mind and soul we are kind of one entity, there's no individual frame, no boundary. It's about the idea of one united mind.
