Century Egg and the jubilant slamming art pop explosion of "Do You Want To Dance?" (Official Video)

"I’ve got a feeling we won't see the ending / To our descent into the deep abyss..."

The art pop explosion of "Do You Want To Dance", from Halifax based Century Egg (a bilingual Madarin / English mandopop band) and from their 2021 EP "Little Piece Of Hair", is so fiercely jubilant with jazz pop deep dives that at one point I thought of Joe Jackson. At other moments I thought of power pop / rock pummeling of Superchunk and math rock affections. This ability to ride all these edges in a super fun and frantic way is captivating to say the least.

Check out the Official Video as directed by T Nicole Holland.

Century Egg are a bilingual (Mandarin + English) Halifax-based “Mandopop” band boasting a diverse range of influences and artistic traditions.

Since 2016 Century Egg has been steadily releasing a series of EPs and singles that have earned them features and praise from a variety of prominent North American music publications (The Fader), radio programs (CBC), and podcasts (Kreative Kontrol). Their unique blend of indie rock and Chinese pop music, along with a happy infectious attitude has given the project status in Canada as an “Artist You Need To Hear” (Exclaim!).

Refreshingly modern and fun, their music about the importance of chosen family, staying together, and the love of daydreaming and eating wonderful food.
