Polemics and the spit and splatter of "Captain" (Official Lyric Video)

"spermless in the grave of the city..."

Bristol, UK based Polemics, the musical incarnation of Nathan Smith and Jeff Ingle have an attitude. One that speaks to me, one that manifest itself in jagged diatribes of punk intermixed with politico rock, art rockian punk tones, vocals that are spit as much as sung and guitar melodies that punch with equal amounts of verve and elegance. On their track "Captain", oddly or not, I thought of any of the Mike Patton helmed bands (Tomahawk, Mr. Bungle) or an amalgam of all of them (for whatever reason) stirred in with Gang of Four and Idles in reverse. I think it is because within Polemics sometimes scorched earth aesthetic, expressed in rabid fashion or less so, I sense a fair amount of self deprecation and a sardonic look and or disgust with life and life hardships that are created by those at the top. Digging what Smith and Ingle do and love "Captain".

Dip deep into the amazing Official Lyric Video of "Captain" from the "Captain" Album.

Hailing from Bristol, Polemics are Nathan Smith and Jeff Ingle, school friends united by a passion for heavy music, they officially formed in 2019 and after a series of ferocious live shows they established themselves as an exciting emerging fixture of the Bristol live scene.

Polemics deftly combine their natural edge, attitude and fury with skilled musicianship and hugely bombastic drums. The elements of hardcore and angry vocals are matched with songwriting, chunky riffs and a pop sensibility. They are naming The Mars Volta and Smashing Pumpkins as big influences whereas blogs and fans are calling comparisons with IDLES, Fugazi and Primus.
