Joshua Powell and the cross genre garage rock hammered elegance of "Sad Boy at the Skeleton Party" (Official Video)

"But this party is petulant / Cave and cancel the dance / Damn--they’re canceling everything!"

"Sad Boy at the Skeleton Party" by Indianapolis, Indiana artist Joshua Powell weaves a cross generational / cross genre'd garage hammer that has dense layers of crunchy guitars but also fluid melodic bass lines, dynamically punching shifting drum work, a vocal aesthetic that has art rock ascending falsettos and masterful lead guitar work (sometimes double lead or is that triple lead?) that are drenched with glam glitter and experimental alternative rock shapes. This may sound strange but I thought of an over reaching artful amalgam of artists like Diarrhea Planet, Sweet, Be Bop Deluxe and fucking Badfinger (seriously). Powell and his cohorts manifest garage rock that feels elegantly and classically elevated.

Check out the long haired, leather clad, Destroyer wielding accompanying Official Video.

Joshua Powell is an artist from Indianapolis, IN, who handcrafts a strangely literate brand of psychedelic indie rock that manages to be simultaneously socially conscious and spiritually turbulent. With over 900 shows in 42 states under his belt, Powell blends the narrative richness of American folk with a heavy dose of hallucinatory swirl and a ghost note of ‘00s-vintage bedroom indie, all highlighted in ethereal falsetto by his purposeful, kaleidoscopic poetry.

If you like our aesthetic, hope you choose to make a one time donation- cheers Robb
