theWorst and the crushed glass grunge punk passion of "Jim's Song" (Official Video)

"you knew a place where we'd be safe..."

When you hear Brooke Binion's passionate scouring wail on theWorst's dynamic grunge garage rocker "Jim's Song" produced by Will Holland (Pixies, Fall Out Boy) at Chillhouse Studios, you might feel yourself engage in an empathetic clearing or your own throat. Binion has the raspiest, crushed glass sandpaper vocal aesthetic when she cuts loose and there are even remnants of that caustic sound at her most mellow croon. Within that roughness, there are somber admissions and tender vulnerable reflections in a voice that feels utterly beautiful too. The character in her voice is a big part of theWorst's sound as is the raw power and divergent sideways shapes. I especially love the vocal melodies and the loud quiet take on what is essentially a spartan sound. To really feel the hard ass edges you have to have the quiet in between and that sonic lesson is taught here well.

Alternative Press has cleverly coined theWorst's sound as the "glorious love child of Joan Jett and Kurt Cobain" which is pretty spot on. "Jim's Song" is from the band's upcoming sophomore release "Yes Regrets" featuring members of The Distillers, Morphine, BeyoncĂ© (live band), The Nth Power, John Brown's Body) and more. Check out the accompanying Official Video for "Jim's Song" filmed and directed by Carissa Johnson (additional drone footage by Andrew Doody).

Hailed by Alternative Press as the "...glorious love child of Joan Jett & Kurt Cobain," theWorst has been on a meteoric rise since their inception. Led by bandleader and true survivor, Brooke Binion, the band has gained a reputation as a one-of-a-kind raucous live act, fueled by an aggressive raw sound, anthemic songs and a brutally honest lyricism that is rare in today's highly commercial and often fabricated mainstream music scene. Having toured nationwide and coast to coast since 2016, theWorst consists of Binion on lead vocals and guitar, alongside Will Bradford (SeepeopleS) on bass and Craig Sala (Paranoid Social Club, Kurt Baker, Planeside) on drums. The band earned wide critical acclaim with the release of their debut album Jane Doe Embryo (RascalZRecordZ 2017), and the recent release of their new singles, 'Blacksheepish,' and 'Yes Regrets," all produced by by Will Holland (Pixies, Fall Out Boy) and recorded at the legendary Chillhouse Studios in Boston, MA. Recently, the band dropped a new single for charity, entitled 'Lifer,' on the non-profit record label CommunityZ RecordZ, with all the proceeds going to the local Maine charity, Maine Trans Net, an organization that supports transgender people and the challenges they face in today's world. Currently theWorst are finishing their second full length album with Will Holland, entitled Yes Regrets, which features guest musical contributions from the likes of Dana Colley (Morphine, Vapors of Morphine), Tony Bevilacqua (The Distillers) Nikki Glaspie (BeyoncĂ©, Nth Power, Maceo Parker, Griz), and Nate Edgar (Nth Power, John Brown’s Body) and is slated for release on RascalZRecordZ in the spring of 2022. The title track for the album dropped as a single on Black Friday, 2020 (RascalZRecordZ 2020) on all streaming platforms, and features Dana Colley. The 'Yes Regrets' music video was created and directed by multi-media artist Sparxsea. Colley, recently joined the band for several shows in the New England area. The band is now releasing its third single from Yes Regrets, entitled "Jim's Song." The music video was created by Fuel Heart Productions (Carissa Johnson).
