From a nanosecond in to the very end, "When I Was", by Berlin based art pop outfit Everything And Everybody, is utterly engrossing. The attention to detail from the percussive ambiance to the very up front synth sounds that feel very much like a trio of analog theremins or a ghost mellotron. On top of that, spirtually digest the lush male /female vox and you are in the embrace of something, haunting, divergently artful and avant gardely cinematic.
Everything and Everybody say that "When I Was" is an ode to late summer melancholy and a reminder of life's many disappointments and disenchantments.
They delve further:
"'When I Was' is a daydream into a world that once was. When everything was possible & everybody carried a secret we were highly interested in. A glimpse into a world that was packed with adventures and excitement. Every color, sound, feeling, taste and scent of supernatural intensity. An endless Rhyme of Optimism. Something that is definitely long gone."
The sound here is, indeed, supernatural sounding and sultry / dangerous. It needs to grace a dark series like American Horror Story or some binge worthy Netflix or Hulu dark drama.

Emerging from bands and projects like Le Very, Bodi Bill, or The/Das, Everything And Everybody create electrified pop music, restless funk riffs with a heavy 80s impact and sweaty jams for never-ending nights.
