"While I am not a French speaker, "Le Temps", nonetheless, speaks to me" - AP
The wandering piano narrative of "Le Temps" by Swiss born, Berlin based pianist, singer-songwriter, composer Marie Kruttli and from her 2021 "30 Traps" EP rides on elusive percussion and beautiful winding bass lines that surreptitiously snake through the atmospheric dense jungle of synth drones and Kruttli's soft evocative croon. She shares:
["When I wrote this song, I was inspired by the situation when being in a long lasting relationship. The reassuring/safe/warm aspect of it and also the threatening (sometimes feeling like trapped into something) aspect of it. And this only exists within this idea of time that we have. That's why I called it "Le Temps", time in french. <3"]
Apart from her trio, "30 Traps" exists as a solo project with the talents of Jonathan Barber, Jaime Murray, James Iwa and Ludwig Wandinger helping to craft Kruttli's sonic imaginings.
While I am not a French speaker, "Le Temps", nonetheless, speaks to me. It feels beautifully mysterious, and the falling piano notes skipping like stones in surprising ways create a tenuous shakey ground to stand on. Loving the atmosphere and the surreal nature.
