"when everything turns back to chaos and bones I promise I won't make a sound..."
"Chaos and Bones" by Melbourne, Australia based singer-songwriter, poet, psychotherapist, Orly Raquel moves on organic, rustic acoustic tones. The kind of falling notes that hypnotically builds a sinewy spider web to contain stories. For me this sound, something between an Irish sea shanty and an American murder ballad feels like the second hand of a clock taking you off to dreamy places. The dreams are provided by Orly's natural croon that is not only beautiful but contain her words that tumble from her lips (riding on fluid melodies that rush and then hold back to sustain) that feel like dark poetry forged from ancient places.
"Chaos and Bones" as Orly shares "is an exploration of the feminine archetype of the Wild Woman and is inspired by the ocean", hmmmm, maybe that is why I thought of comely mermaids that you don't know whether to embrace or fear.
Look for an album to follow.
