Don't Worry and the deep indie punk heaviness of "Crushing Weight"

"inside, I kinda wanna die..."

"Crushing Weight" by Essex indie punks Don't Worry with it's sort of Mop Top meets Nirvana garage rock sway pushes appropriate crush buttons. This indie rocker with kind of 60's inspired doo wop punk tendencies done up heavy but charmingly is perfect for starry eyes after bloody relationship arguments. The normal, the standard songs that come across my electronic desk seem to be straight break up songs so "Crushing Weight" with it's complex narrative is refreshing. The overall sound, the evocative shared vocal aesthetic (and those lovely falsettos), the exquisite lead break and bi-polar emotionality elevates this 'love song' above most.

NOW don't get me wrong, this track ultimately is not about a relationship as an utterly perfect party. The way I feel it, the crushing weight here is not the heaviness of love (only) but the heaviness of love wrapped up with the inherent insecurities in any relationship, the loss of oneself for the hopefulness of two-getherness, and the age old problem of communicating all this relationship shit. Maybe love is hardest to accept when you feel like you don't deserve it or can't even fathom that you have it or are simply waiting to fuck it all up. The idea that love is so heavy (in and of itself) that it will pop the shiny bubble or collapse a collective house is brilliant and deceptively deep.

Great track and hope you deep dive into Don't Worry's music and if you love what they do, do not be afraid to tell them and to support them. Peace.
