Doublethink and the stirring soul bedroom power pop of "I Find God"

"I'm losing... I'm losing..."

Emanating from an apartment in Amman, Jordan the anonymous duo Doublethink (comprised of an American Fulbright researcher and 'peacebuilding professional' as lead singer and co-producer and a blind Irish-Nigerian producer and engineer) create deep groove politico indie R&B / soul pop sounds. I couldn't make this stuff up and I fully admit that their description sounds like the start of an espionage thriller but the proof is in the sonic pudding and my first introduction "I Find God" moves so well and genre shifts effortlessly.

At the beginning the kind of 90's soul grooves are so deep and seriously digging the vocal aesthetic. The production flourishes and percussive beat (love the double downbeat synth key strike that propels the beat) and the sort of hand clap-esque party vibe. Somewhere along the way, the song shifts and stirs in more indie pop / power pop cadences that feel 80's inspired. The wish wash on the beat sounds perfect. Digging this and hope you check this mysterious duo out.

Doublethink is an anonymous duo, an American Fulbright researcher and peacebuilding professional who is the lead singer and a co-producer, and a blind Irish-Nigerian producer and photographer who is the main producer and engineer. The two met on soundcloud years ago and have made much of their politically motivated music from the bedroom of an apartment in Amman, Jordan. Doublethink wants to make pop music reflective of our political moment.
