Failure and the timeless heaviness of "Headstand" (Official Video)

"the simulation is about to meet it's maker..."

Listening to "Headstand" by the iconic L.A. alt rock / art rock outfit Failure, who cultivated a wildly devoted audience in the 90's and resurrected in 2014, and you are steeped in a simmering heaviness that feels utterly timeless. Maybe it is so because as mankind wishes to evolve, we somehow seem to march steadily to the precipice, to move away from calm and peace and straight into the meat grinder. The ever so high tech grinders of destruction, of drawn lines in the sand or concrete, to things that rip us apart, to the corporatization of division and evil made up to look pretty.

Failure's sound here is exquisite in it's approach, the madness and dystopian grandeur is measured as to not feel too caustic and as such becomes hypnotic. The sense feels art rock-esque but post grunge as well and floating in a futuristic place. Science fiction, after all is full of caveats as is "Headstand" which is a mere glimpse of Failure's new album "Wild Type Droid" dropping December 3rd. The Official Video as directed by Ken Andrews reduces the planet's hierarchy to the scaly creatures among us.
