MEGALØPOLIS and the surf punk swaying hallucinogenic "Sundown"

"you are the cat and I was the mouse..."

Fiddling with a lock, a slammed door and then "Sundown" by Berlin alt rock band MEGALØPOLIS begins. I am smitten 30 seconds in and immediately feel a sort of crushing together of styles and iconic artists. You have the divergent avant garde surf punk sway of the Pixies, the vast Goth pop haze of Echo and the Bunnymen and the psych rock lipstick of artists like the Kinks, like Super Furry Animals. There is something beautifully absurd and post punk enticing, a mixture of heavy set rock and hallucinogenic space rock with bits of 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's shapes and colors. Cross generational trippy imaginings for all to enjoy as long as you like surprises.

I want to surf to this.

"Sundown" is the second track on the band's debut album ‘Vampire Orgies’.
