Shaven Primates and the heavy heavenly rock grandeur of "The Zoo" (Official Video)

"Playing so innocently with my friend (So innocent), Secretly as the rules might offend (Who's watching us)"

"The Zoo" from Oxford (UK) art rock / post punk band Shaven Primates and from their upcoming album, "Child Of Dirt", has a vast dreamy heaviness. Against a pushed bass and drum beat, things feel heavenly and grand as the author takes us on a sonic journey, the poetry helped along with a choir of sorts that doesn't need to be preached to. The atmosphere, the lush aesthetic feels at once artful with a cross generational mix of classic rock maybe even forged on do wop origins until all of heaven and hell erupts in a dinge of massive guitars, of heavy metal ascensions. There is a wonderful rock classicalism here, like late 70's mixes of rock grandeur and even 60's Brit psych rock crashing together. Call me crazy but I feel a rich ethereal art rock / fantasy rock storytelling, an amalgam of artists like The Kinks, Black Sabbath and King Crimson.

I am enjoying the sheer head banging jubilation, the majesty, the conceptual nature, the axe play, the fantasy, the fables in play, the sense of long hair and black Les Pauls. The accompanying Official Video is fun and inspired.

The child is lost with his feelings and shuts himself away on an imaginary desert island with a friend, away from the rest of the world, which he calls The Zoo. Check out this and the rest at www.shavenprimates.com

The song was created with a picture in mind that just grew into this big production. It's taken a few years to make the video and form this album (upcoming) but it's been worth it.
