zzzahara and the sonic runaway intensity of "they don't know" (Official Video)

"why do you always gotta keep me a secret, telling me you love me feels like you don't mean it..."

"they don't know" by zzzahara, the musical moniker of Highland Park (L.A.) born and raised singer songwriter / Eyedress / Simps / U.S. Velvet guitarist Zahara Jaime, is a jammy runaway of a track, infused with a sense of 80's new wave nostalgia, 90's post punk / goth pop flavors and more. Loving the intense cadence and dense layers of synths and guitars pushing melody lines that serve as reflective surfaces for the dreamy melodies. For some reason I did think of The Drums a bit (in the best possible way), maybe it is the swing in the beat or the utter urgency and sonic patter, uniting the music and the vocals.

I am also loving the Official Video, as directed by Ross Harris, that follow the Los Angeles nighttime escapades of zzzahara and their girlfriend. It is like the youthful joyous unbearable beating of hearts in love and maybe the fear of that feeling all at once.
