Darién Geep and the dreamy quicksand head space of "Too Many Tools"

"Wake up in my bed and now I am awake..."

"Too Many Tool" by Bremen based (Germany) Darién Geep and from their recently released full length "The Fortune Cookie Factory is not worth considering.." is instantly beautifully sad. The guitar lines dip and move sideways in interesting ways as the drums and bass maneuver deftly around those surprising melodies. The vocal aesthetic, a blend of thoughts in a static place, maybe the dark reflections of an insomniac, (to me) dip into another world, one that might touch bits of depression. The song sort of chases it's own tail as if stuck in a particular diorama of feeling and things on repeat. And yet, it feels like a journey.

Other songs on "The Fortune Cookie Factory is not worth considering.." feel equally divergent and experimental. Slices of moments or fixations on things. I get a sense of all our life's cosmic joke, the brevity of life and whether we matter at all. Take the progressive shape shifter "Stiff Dough" that eludes to the Fortune Cookie Factory of the album's title: "Fortune cookie factory / I gave you all my love / But now I lost my wisdom inside of me...". The lyrcs acerbic, the musicality running through a maze is as curious and sweet as those folded cookies. Another track, "Lushy Mind" with dark whimsical plucked rhythms and guitar flourishes that instigate dreams in your head plays with our perceptions and how we control where we are at any given time (or do we?). The jagged "Tyran" that blends funk grooves, soul pop ascensions and proggy post rock tones all into something else invites you into a midnight movie. A sudden surprise compared to some of the other tones on the album.

I will let you all discover the album in toto. It will put you in a certain place, down the proverbial rabbit holes of your mind or, at least, Darién Geep's mind.

When a goat and a sheep are making love then a Geep will enter this world. We are Darién Geep, a Bremen-based band, which identifies with hybrids and the concept of multiple blended musical elements and styles of songwriting together.

If you enter our Geep-world you will find melancholic neo-psychedelic rock elements, dreamy sections, combined with funky rhythms and soft vocals.

We love self-made stuff, that's why we try to produce our music videos and art designs by ourselves, or in cooperation with artists close to us, to let the Geep family grow.
