Castilho and jazz infused glitter ball psychedelia of "Survive"

"it's hard for us just to figure it out..."

Everyone has their bad days and their good days. "Survive" by Portugal based Castilho, the solo project of Pedro Castilho (synth player / backing vocalist for the psych rock band Savanna), even drenched in a sparkling bit of melancholia feels like one of the good days (to me). I am digging Pedro's hushed tender vox (that at certain times feels like that good best friend stoned and whispering in your ear) and the chill wave of jazzy infused indie rock / doo wop punk is deliciously embracing. Love the pearly Fender Rhodes-esque keys and the beautiful tight drumming that shifts with the song in double time and half time ways. The song is so dynamically rich and dreamy. The uplifting sort of disco meets, Fred and Ginger glitter ball escapades jam session coda with the superb sax solo and Gretsch 6015 sounding pretty floating guitar notes is everything.

"Survive" is the latest single from Castilho's debut album, "Today We'll Be the Lucky Ones".

Castilho is the moniker of Pedro Castilho, synth player and backing vocalist of psychedelic rock band Savanna. Having emerged late 2017 with softer more melancholic sounding debut single 'Come Back' to critical acclaim in his native Portugal, he has released his second song 'Moving Fast, Moving Slow' late 2018 and his third track 'Lucky Ones' in the summer of 2019.

'The Wind Blows', fourth single, from 2020, won the Novos Talentos Fnac award and opened the doors for his first show at Lisbon's Coliseu dos Recreios.
