Kangaroo Court and the big smashing dynamic sound of "Something's Gotta Give"

"the pot has been stirred and something's gotta give..."

Propelled forward with a scream between John Dwyer and an Irish banshee, Urbana, Illinois' Kangaroo Court, on their debut "Something's Gotta Give", smash together feral garage rock, lounge punk, indie rock (through a patina of grunge) and call it a day. I dig the guitar screams and tweaks, the heavy runaway bass and pummeling drums (amazing drums), the dynamic drop outs and time sig swaps all lead by a vocal aesthetic that has a doo wop punk warble. All awesome, the dense musical nature that get's relatively quiet when it needs to and the absolutely rabid breakdown. Fucking love this.

Formed in October 2021 out of the DIY-scene in Urbana, IL, Kangaroo Court took to stages throughout the Midwest and quickly earned a reputation for their high-energy live performances and melodic blending of punk, garage, and psychedelic rock. Following an impressive string of shows in late 2021, including an opening slot for Chicago psych legends Post Animal, Kangaroo Court was named Champaign/Urbana’s Best New Band by publication Smile Politely. The group kept this momentum rolling into 2022, playing to a sold-out crowd at Cobra Lounge in Chicago and additionally earning a slot on the Summer Camp Music Festival ‘22 lineup. Kangaroo Court’s highly anticipated debut single, Something’s Gotta Give, was released on April 8th.
