Little Arcana and the curious rock indie combination of "Blood and Honey"

"write their name and circle it / to assuage your doubts / wrap it up in moon-soaked cloth..."

"Blood and Honey", a weird combo but maybe not. It is a track from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based Little Arcana's just released almost full length album "Dangerous Situation" and the track, a sort of unbridled garage rock-esque indie rocker that, to me, is swelling with the free wheeling 90's college rock aesthetic. An aesthetic I am fond of, one that is less concerned with perfectly / algorithmically produced songs than ones with wild abandoned passion and maybe even played pretty much live as opposed to layered takes quantized along the way. That's what I hear with "Blood and Honey".

Little Arcana, formerly Young Pilgrims have this to say about "Dangerous Situation":

"Harrowing Tales of Sorcery, Blood Rituals, Eldritch Spells, Curses and all manner of Arcane Trickery!

This is our first formal batch as Little Arcana. It's got a holdover or two from the old days, but otherwise it's pure and uncut new-ness. Over the course of writing this, we found ourselves drifting toward occult imagery. I guess you could say that a lot of these songs are like if one liquefied a tarot deck and spilled it all over a private journal.

So it is, we all come to you, tattered hats in hand, asking that you spare one of your last chances on a couple of down-on-their-luck drifters, with their solid gold hearts planted firmly on their greased up sleeves. We don't need much, just a hot meal and a hay bale for the night, which we'll do a day's labor for a'course, and then we'll be back on our way."

So delve in if you dare.
