Nora Kelly Band and the alt country thought provoking "Hymn for Agnostics" (Official Video)

"what is left inside my head when I'm dead, will I be delivered?"

"Hymn for Agnostics" by the Nora Kelly Band is right up my spiritual (and musical) alt country alley. I mean, I have had a love / hate relationship with religion, mostly hate. I have been an atheist as soon as I found out what the word meant but ever since my dad died, and then my mom I have, at times, wished there was more. Fronted by DISHPIT's Nora Kelly and featuring members of Fleece, Bell Orchestre and Treasure Eyes, this hymn is a beautiful vast ascension (maybe even to something resembling heaven) with folksy guitar moves, pedal steel sounds, a stoic drum beat as deadly serious as a walk up to an open casket and, AND Nora Kelly's voice. I love everything about her vocal aesthetic here. Even though there is a sense of country and western play acting in the pushed drawl and country lilt, Nora manages to infuse an earnest truth in her sound with evocative, thought provoking words tumbling out of her mouth like parables, "If there is a God / Then he needed Man / To tell him that Eden was good work."

Nora stated, "Hymn for Agnostics’ is for those of us who have no religion to lean on but who’s faith in the spiritual is supported in our connections with each other, the planet" and I like, love that. Really do and look forward to the Nora Kelly Band album and live performances. I wonder if the album will be a sort of a sonic mockumentary (smiling).
