Navah Sea and Phil Simmonds dream soaked groove bitten "Nova"

"I've been waiting for the longest, I've been praying for the holy..."

I am digging, falling into the trance bitten groove of "Nova", the final single from the "Navah Sea" Art and Music Project, an art exhibition in London (April 9th, 2022) from "the mind and heart of British producer and songwriter, Phil Simmonds. Navah sea is an exploration between Art and Music. Every painting has a song that was inspired by it".

"Nova" finds Phil stirring up genres and I am struck by the pushed drum beat, the orchestral rushes of sound and the vocal aesthetic that with the gentle (major 7th / minor-esque) piano chords had me feeling a bit of Coldplay's (best album) "Parachutes" in the way Phil fuses in jazz tones.

Press notes reveal:

In “Nova” Phil explores and confronts the fascinations of faiths, religions and cults alike. Sonically falling between a blend of 90’s Brit rock and early Police with a driving drums. Nova is the center piece of the “Navah Sea” Art Project from which all other sounds and stories have been told. Filled with live strings, horns and many other genre bending sounds, the song captivates what Phil has build with this project, Eclectic yet nuanced at times.

Cool, dreamy, rad.
