People On TV and the smashed disco ball sound of "Stand"

"there's a picture of you on a new year's day but the memory fades, yeah the memory fades..."

Some songs sort of take you back and propel you forward at the same time. This is the case with "Stand" by Brisbane, Australia's People On TV. I am digging the pushed cadence (for a second I flashed on Blondie's "Heart of Glass"), the smashed beat, the synth work, the barbed dirty bass  and amazingly cool and dreamy lead guitar lines (is that hand claps amping up the cool and the funk?). This all, of course, creates a power punching, sort of neon cascading framework for the lead vox that are perfectly poised, commanding yet exasperated.

People On TV are comprised of  Dave Gilbert (vocals, guitar), Steve Swart (bass) and Oliver Fawcett (drums).
