"tell me you ain't going nowhere..."
If you are new to American Pancake, I can briefly tell you that my musical tastes veer mostly toward post punk, post rock, art rock, indie rock (thereabouts) but try to keep an open and present mind to all kinds of sounds, vibe and for me the more blendo the better. When I pushed play on "time 4 u", a true collaboration between Filipino-American musician / artist Aisa and Indian-American artist Saara Nishat (both of whom are based in Las Vegas), it seeped down easily into my psyche. The fluttering tweeting ambient tones, the simply beautiful psych jazz dipped guitar tones, the upfront chill solid drum beat, easy soulful bass tones and deeply lush inviting vocal aesthetic, Aisa feeling more easy and Saara's high registers just deadly gorgeous stabbed me in the heart. For me (and I realize that each of us draws references based on the memory grab bag in our brain) the sound feels dramatically endearing like late 70's soul pop. I, in fact, flashed on Minnie Riperton's mid 70's chart topping "Lovin' You" from her "Perfect Angel" album.
“The song honestly came out of nowhere in the best way. Aisa played some chords, Chris (co-producer) laid some drums down, and the rest followed. Aisa sang the first few words off the top of his head, and all I remember thinking about was how happy it made me feel and it turned into what, I think, is a super cute little love song. I think my favorite part of our whole creative process was when the three of us picked out what subtle bird noises to throw into the track, though.” - Saara Nishat
AND:
“‘time 4 u’ is a song about reassurance. It’s a song that highlights that feeling of wanting to clear up your schedule for somebody special because you long for the day you’ll see them again. Make time for the things you love and for the people you love before you run out of time” - Aisa

Coming off of recently released “bowl” and its accompanying live version, as well as his debut EP “Crazy-ish”, Aisa is back this AAPI Heritage Month with his new record “time 4 u” with Saara Nishat. The silky, smooth track visits our daily lives and puts into perspective how we use our limited time for not only ourselves, but for the ones that we love as well.

With this new single with Saara Nishat, it was an effortless approach - a song coming from a seamless flow of thought and emotions. As Aisa grows, his writing becomes more and more of his second nature.

The Filipino-American musician, based in Las Vegas, started his musical journey by co-creating the boyband collective, “jaded fantasy.”, in his college years. After their initial releases, and with the help of a Steve Lacy TED Talk, Aisa was motivated to tell his own story. Being inspired by artists such as Frank Ocean, Yeek, and, of course, Steve Lacy, Aisa released his debut effort “Crazy-ish”, a chapter of romance and love through his own lens and experiences. Through the next year, Aisa has been back and forth from Las Vegas to Los Angeles working on crafting his sound working with other producers and writers alike - now with a string of releases in the pipeline to release this Summer 2022, including a 3-track pack coming this upcoming June.
Saara Nishat is an Indian-American artist from Las Vegas, NV who curates a Neo Soul and R&B sound that reminds us of the mental and emotional anguish that one goes through during heartbreak and betrayal. Her music conveys that there is a quality of beauty and strength that can be found in honesty, transparency, and most of all, vulnerability. She began singing at the early age of six performing covers and attending open mics regularly, which helped her develop her sound when she started writing her own songs at the beginning of her high school career. Since then she has released several singles such as “Been Okay,” “Infatuated,” “Frozen Lemonade,” and “To Love An Egomaniac.” Saara has been working diligently on her future releases and the aforementioned singles were only a glimpse of what more is to come.
