Belmondo and the Gothic rock / darkwave bullwhip crack of "The Gods They Know"

"pray for more satisfaction..."

A snake charming drum beat like a punk infested Cotton Club, sideways heavy metal-esque guitar runs, think bullwhip cracking industrial rock breakdowns, art rock, baroque pop meets Seattle grunge vocal aesthetic and an overall avant noir gothic rock / darkwave atmosphere minus the smoke machines. That is the scintillating, killer "The Gods They Know" by the Brighton alt rock quartet Belmondo who command your attention, and I am fucking ready to give it. Lead vocal duties are shared by Kelan Moore (guitar) and Carmen Mellino (bass) with Jules Freiss on drums and Laurent Lesaffre on guitar. Absolutely captivated by Bemondo's sound here.

Named after the famed actor of the ‘60s Nouvelle Vague scene, Belmondo can be counted on to add a touch of class to proceedings without compromising on rock spirit. The Brighton quartet take inspiration from the likes of De Staat and Killing Joke, arming their upcoming tracks with hard-hitting beats and an uncompromising vision of hybrid rock revelry.

Duelling vocalists Kelan and Carmen each hold their own, with Carmen’s ice-cold lilting tones and Kelan’s evocative snarl offering something for every listener. Add mighty blues-rock basslines and just a tinge of psychedelia, and the resulting powerful Industrial-Pop sound is Belmondo’s unique sonic fingerprint. A band this innovative are sure to make their mark on the local live circuit and beyond.
