LUMER and the politico post punkery of "Hatred is a Passion of Theirs" (Official Video)

"because hatred is a passion of theirs..."

As I revel in the artful gutteral punk milleau of Lumer's politico / social commentary fueled "Hatred is a Passion of Theirs" with it's wonderfully askew guitar shapes and Ben Jackson's vocal aesthetic that feels snarling, saliva spewing and perfectly serves the song. When it comes to comedy, there has to be truth in the words for it to be funny and, in this case, the truth cuts both ways. In order to understand hate we have to realize that those who do it, do it because it feels good. Those who carry hate like a righteous sword do so because they have their God backing them up, because killing those who they view as demonic or against the state manifesto is a righteous act. Hate is also so fucking profitable.

I am reminded of the American broadcaster Rush Limbaugh who made millions upon millions of dollars spewing hate and stoking it's flames. For actors like Limbaugh and those like him, facts are only something you twist and navigate around. It would be nice to drive up to St. Louis' Bellefontaine Cemetery, listen to "Hatred is a Passion of Theirs" while I dance on his grave.

LUMER's latest single is a witty, tongue and cheek, social commentary on the current social climate. With an infectious groove and a harsh chorus to mirror the stark reality of the world we live in. ‘Hatred is a Passion of Theirs' blends wonky guitars, punchy drums, a danceable bassline topped with a moaning yet playful vocal, to create an enrapturing and fresh new track. The Single will be supported by a music video in collaboration with Fred Perry.
