Mayuko and the ethereal art pop tension of "Cholericly Yours"

The brand new single "Cholericly Yours" by German based avant art pop outfit Mayuko, comprised of artists Michelle Cheung, Kasia Kadlubowska and Rebecca Mauch, cuts both ways. On one had, the percolating ethereal orchestration with synthetic ambience like radio transmissions from outer space have a otherworldly sound and on the other hand, the percussion, big tom tom drums and tactile stand up bass maneuvers feel earthbound, organic, anchored in mother earth herself. The dazzling vocal harmonies somewhere between urgent angry declarations and hushed wide eyed questions walk that tight rope too between avant pop, folk indie, baroque pop filtered through an overall experimental illusory multicolored shine.

Mayuko share that ["Cholericly Yours" is an angry love letter from someone caught in the polarity of love and anger.] so the ying yang or even bipolar duality makes some kind of sense, doesn't it?

Following their debut EP "Oil And Water" in November, "Cholericly Yours" is their first new single and a preview of their upcoming material.

Mayuko, based in Mannheim and Berlin, Germany, consists of artists Michelle Cheung, Kasia Kadlubowska and Rebecca Mauch. Classically trained in music and in dance respectively, yet fearless in blending all their influences, Mayuko create kaleidoscopic soundscapes between pop, electronic and experimental.

Ethereal voices float above rough bass loops and minimalist beats. Poetic lyrics describe sense and sensuality in a world where technology is on the rise and humanity is left behind.

Mayuko is delicate, fragile, but consequent. They live back and forth in worlds like in fairy tale or a 90’s post-grunge cityscape. Mayuko's songs touch your skin like silk, make you head bop like the wind the tall grass, take you on a hypnotizing trip to where concrete flowers bloom and imaginary bubbles float. Mayuko bring a softness to an unforgiving world.
